Assignment # 10--Episode 91: Prime Time for Policy, Identity, and Management

Video: 60min. This video talks about Cisco Prime and how it makes management of multiple products easier. Also, talks about NCS (network control system) and shows how Prime is universal and will work with NCA and some of the other Cisco products. This is a very long video. Could only understand some of it. Does give a lot of pictures and they try to give a lot of detail so it is not that hard for you to understand what Prime is and how to use it with multiple products.

Assignment # 9--Windows XP Pro Series

Website Video:30:00 min. This video talks about Windows XP mode. The video also talks about, features and capabilities in Windows XP mode along with, guidance for IT pros to use Windows XP mode in business's and home offices. Very good video to watch. A lot of information about how to use Windows XP mode and it's features for that you could use in everyday life, a business, and just about anything else you could think of. I thought this was a very handy video to watch.

Assignment # 8--Networking 101: Quality of Service (QoS)

Video:12:34 min. This is a very interesting video and has a lot of information about QoS. In this video, Jimmy Ray says that,"QoS is only as good as its weakest link on the network". He also says, "Find out where QoS is not in your network and that is probably were your problem is on your network". I have learned that QoS can be in layer 1,2,3, and 4. Jimmy Ray talks briefly about QoS in all the layers.

Assignment# 7-- In The Lab: Deploying the Mobility Services Engine

TechWise TV Episode 3-14:07 min. I really enjoyed watching this video. Very in depth. Also, this video is a hands-on tour on how the MSE is needed in any business or any engineer. This is a mobility tool that is a required addition and has many improvements since it first came out. MSE=excellent en vent correlation, and is very easy to set up and has a lot of new features. MSE helps with seeing what is interfering with your wireless connection.

Assignment#6--Journey to Cloud Services

TechWise TV episode 111-23:07 min Before watching this video I did not even know what a Cloud Service was. Now I can say I kind of know what it means now. In this video they talk about Cisco's kick-start on the Cloud Service. What I understand from this video, is that the Cloud is for any kind of device/thing and a user can use the Cloud Service for his/her device.

Assignment #5 -- Cisco ISE for Mobility

Video 15:22

In this video they discus the Cisco Identity Service Engine and how it is ideal for centralized policy control for both wired and wireless networks. They demonstrate between various devices and how the ISE deals with each device. They start off by showing the difference between a workstation in contract user and your own personal device. They show how ISE makes it easy and more manageable.
This video is a good one to watch and learn about the ISE.

Assignment #4 -- TechWise TV 110: Embracing the Bring-Your-Own-Device Trend

Video: 50 min. long

In this video the tech. people are in London discussing how addicted to cell phones and the data package people are. They also discuss how the 3600 A.P. can help with that.
This video is mostly about the 3600 access point. They talk about how the access point is a 4x4x3, which is 4 transmitters, 4 receivers, and 3 spacial steams. Also, talks about how the 3600 allows the feedback loop, how compatible it is, flexible it is, how durable it is, the range it can handle, and the performance of it. They say the 3600 is the fastest wireless router.
This video also talks about the newest technology out their and how the 3600 can tell those devices apart.
Lastly this video talks about the 2.2 media net and how it relates to the media trace (how A is getting to B) and calibration manager (every call in process). This tool helps visualize the different problems in the technology field.
All in all this is a very good video to watch. Only some of the speakers I could not understand.

Assignment #3 Virtual Event-Enhance Your Power Options with Cisco UPOE (TechWise TV)

Episode 101: Enhance Your Power Options with Cisco UPOE (Universal Power Over Ethernet) (TechWise TV)
Time: 34 Min
Website:

The virtual event started off with Pardeep Parmar and Sylivia Hooks talking about; How UPOE was thought of and How people benefit from it? They said that UPOE opens up a whole new range of devices to power up. Also, people that use UPOE has uncluttered workspace, less maintenance, and can save money. They even stated that CAT 5 cable or higher can be used with UPOE.
Second person to talk was Jimmy Ray Purser and he talked about, How it UPOE works? He sums up that on a CAT 5 cable UPOE just takes up the extra space you have on the cable and uses that to put more power down it. He says that it does not heat up too much more, so no problem should be caused by the extra heat or power.
Third people to talk was Nikhil Sharma, Jimmy Ray Purser, and Pradeep Parmar. They talked about the university, resistance, and efficiency of UPOE.
University- uses existing cable to power a wide range of end points.
Resistance- extend network power to a larger variety of devices.
Efficiency- saves up to 128 dollars in five years.
They also give a lot of demonstrations on what UPOE can supply power too.
The wrap up of the virtual event was very knowledgeable and I understood about 1/4 of the video. Their was a lot of terms I did not know. Hopefully one day I do understand and can use this.

Assignment #2 Virtual Event- TechWise TV: The IPv6 Implementation Action Plan

Episode 94: TechWise TV: The IPv6 Implementation Action Plan
Time: 1.06
Website: http://youtu.be/bvyDWq6D8xk

Got a lot out of watching this video. I did not no we was running out of ip addresses so fast. Well I did and then I did not. If that makes any since. By the way this video is talking, the makers of IPv6 has to hurry up and get it running right so we users can start using it. What I got out of watching this show is that us users wont be able to tell a whole lot of difference between the old version.
I am glad I watched this video. I also learned a lot about IPv6 addressing, multi casting, and other things. To me this show was kind of boring at times, but I do feel once they get IPv6 together and operating it will be better for everyone. Just by watching this video I think it will be sometime before that happens because their is still a lot for them to do. I just hope we don't run out of addressing before we can get IPv6 up and running.

Assignment #1 Virtual Event- Cisco Fabric Path for Scalable Data Centers

Meeting Number: 209 600 323
Date: Wednesday, August 18,2010
Time: 1:02 PM, Local Time (GMT-05:00)
60 MIN Long
Title: Cisco Fabric Path for Scalable Data Centers

From what I got out of this virtual event, was that Fabric Path was put in Layer 2 and will replace The Spanning Tree Protocol because Fabric Path was made to use less bandwidth. Fabric Path will also fix problems with Switching by making it easy to configure, making it more plug and play by using Layer 2, and provisioning flexibility. Also, Fabric Path will fix problems with Routing by making it highly scalable, faster to convergence, and multi-pathing (ECMP).
"Fabric Path will bring Layer 3 routing benefits to flexible Layer 2 bridged Ethernet Networks." as stated in the virtual event. The virtual event also states, "Fabric Path is simple."
This virtual event goes into details about Fabric Path and what all is involved with it. Shows us how it is used in everyday networking and gives examples of how the routing table will work with Fabric Path and how it is more scalable than The Spanning Tree Protocol. Also, discusses how different it is from other protocols in Layer 2 and how it is going to migrate Layer 2 to Layer 3 one day. Plus, tells us what upgrades to look for next that will come out of Fabric Path. Lastly, this virtual event gives more examples of the benefits of using Fabric Path over Spanning Tree and benefits Fabric Path gives to an IXP.
This was a good virtual event to watch with a lot of detail on Fabric Path. Some of which I did not understand but with time hope to understand it more.
